‘How Dare You’ speech at UN Climate Action Summit of Greta Thunberg 
Who is Gretta Thunberg?
Sixteen-year-old Greta Thunberg is a climate activist from Stockholm, Sweden. Over the last 14 months, she has inspired millions of people, predominantly school children, to act to prevent the climate crisis. Greta’s climate activism started after a scorching summer sparked wildfires across Sweden last year. That’s when she learnt about the looming threat of global warming and climate change.
In an emotional speech at the United Nations during the Climate Action Summit on Monday, the 16-year-old Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg appealed to world leaders about the grave need to stop the effects of climate change.
“You all come to us young people for hope. How dare you?” she said. “You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, and yet, I’m one of the lucky ones. People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing.”
Thunberg grew tearful, as she continued to condemn what she sees as the lack of action on part of leaders around the world to halt climate change. “We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you?”
The 2019 Climate Action Summit kicked off at the UN on Monday, where world leaders gathered to discuss serious strategies to mitigate climate change. Thunberg cited more than 30 years of scientific evidence showing the consequences of a perpetually warming globe and delivered searing criticism of politicians who were aware of the science, but still did nothing.
“You say you hear us and that you understand the urgency. But no matter how sad and angry I am, I do not want to believe that,” she said. “Because if you really understood the situation and still kept on failing to act, then you would be evil, and that I refuse to believe.”
Speaking to the world leaders at the climate summit Monday, Thunberg echoed her earlier message and offered a warning. “You are failing us. But young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you, and if you choose to fail us, I say, we will never forgive you. We will not let you get away with this.”
I agree to the speech of Greta Thunberg at UN Climate Action Summit. As you can see, our world today faces different problems which is pollution, poverty, climate change etc. Nowadays climate change is the biggest problem of the human being. It is already happening and represents one of the greatest environmental, social and economic threats facing the planet. Many world leaders are also failing our future generations on climate change. They don’t even take their responsibilities to change our world into a better place to live in. They just pretending that they were listening about other’s opinions but the real thing they don’t, they are just focusing on their power. As a conclusion, The UN should prioritize combating climate change over reducing poverty. Of course, poverty is a big issue, which needs a solution but have you ever asked yourself why the poor countries are poor and why so many people die? It’s because the climate doesn’t allow them to grow food and they can’t afford to buy it from other countries. The climate is a very important thing and if we don’t stop the changes soon, more and more plants and trees are going to die, we won’t have enough food and then not only will the third world countries suffer from hunger but so will the whole world. I think it is better to first stop the changes in climate and then gradually reduce the hunger in the poor countries. Because if we stop the changes, we are going to be healthier and everything around us will be cleaner and it will be how it actually should be. I believe harmony between nature and human beings will return.
